written I vacillated between 2 star and 3 star feeling maybe I was just not familiar with the series and it is not a genre I usually read, but I had some problems with it so decided on 2 stars The story is engaging enough but characters are kinds of flat, and some things just don t ring true The first thing that really bothered me started on page 28 and I won this as a GoodReads Giveaway some first thing that really bothered me started on page 28 and is not the author s fault It refers to the baby having deep chocolate brown eyes but the cover picture had baby with big blue eyes The two main characters, who manage to make a baby the one time they mess around, supposedly grew up and went to school together in a small ranch town where everyone knows everyone else s business However, she does not know that he has a drunken father he takes care of, or that one of her girlfriends is his cousin Sorry, I had trouble with these things. The story gets a little convoluted with another friend s grandfather giving away his prized car to someone who uses it to start a fire to frame the car owner because of things that happened years ago This stuff is not real believable to me, too contrived Most readers would love to have her job in Dallas with unlimited maternity leave though, too bad I had trouble accepting that also Anyway, while I probably will not pursue the rest of the series, this book is an enjoyable enough read for readers that like Harlequin romances I thank Angel Smits for the book and wish her well with her future books Such a muddled up plot I couldn t make from clear and it is that lack of clarity that makes the present so muddled He s always loved her but he s got issues, they ve always had a connection but really how was that developed From the blurb you get the impression they had an on off relationship, but the story seems to play out differently To many holes in the whole set up conveniently not explained to try and make the situation in the
