wants to do, where she will go after her time is up on the farm Will the city girl transform into a country girl A little bit of crime and mystery is involved as well which was a nice little twist although heartbreaking The characters were easy to love, of course Memphis was quite the gentleman, in every damn department if you get me eye roll Either way it was a wonderful heart warming story that many are sure to enjoy My 5 star rating goes to Memphis He s hot He s amazing But, most of all he s a gentleman Who wouldn t swoon over a hot cowboy from Montana The most sweetest guy you ever alone since both his parents passing, he decides to help others that are not so fortunate as himself by giving them a place to eat and sleep and in return they can help him out with the farm He thought it sounded like a great idea and one that his pa would be mighty proud of Things seem to be going along just fine until he meets wealthy and spoiled Sadie Tisdale Encountering Sadie was like nothing Memphis ever imagined She was angry and difficult Having been sent to the farm by her father because of some trouble she had been in, it was his only hope that she would see what a great big wonderful world was out there So here she is mad at her father and everyone she came in contact with, spouting off how life was unfair and how dare her father send her to this God forsaken place in the middle of nowhere But, Memphis just being the absolute gentleman, pays no mind and actually gets a kick out of her She s actually very pretty, and he has to hold in his laughter because of her pouting theatrics What will happen as these two get to know each other Will Sadie realize that her snobby and ignorant ways are no longer necessary as she grows to appreciate Memphis and the beautiful land that he calls home Ah, this was such a beautiful love story It was tender and sweet, and you could just feel the romance building as the story moved along Two young people who really just needed each other in order to feel alive again This novel was not just about the romance, however There was also some suspense thrown in too with a cast of characters so memorable Who could forget the wise and heartwarming Mable who welcomed Sadie with open arms And, what about the renegade, Jag, with his piercings and tattoos who stirs up danger and destruction as he becomes a resident at the farm Will Sadie survive the whole ordeal when chaos and devastion come knocking on her door Do Sadie and Memphis stand a chance of finding happiness together There was so much going on in this book From the first page turned my engrossment into this novel was immediate It kept my attention totally, and I was delighted with quite a few swoon worthy moments If all cowboys were like Memphis Johnson, I d be on my way to Montana pronto He was a total hunk of deliciousness And, when all is said and done, Sadie becomes someone that her father virtually can be proud of She matures into a smart and confident young woman A very entertaining read Now let s see what Colby Carter is up to when his story is explored in the next installment of this series I d like to start off this review by saying this is the that I loved this book, I totally did There were moments I shed a few tears, grabbed onto my kindle scared to swipe to the next page and times that I couldn t erase the smile from my face Vicki Green this was an AMAZING book and I can t wait to read the next Well done girlie This has been on my TBR List since late 2015 when the RP came to audible I was so excited because all these books I had to the end He just wants his ranch to be as successful and it was when his father was alive I love that his heart is so big and he gives anyone a chance to prove themselves Sadie and I will probably never be friends she was too stuck up in the beginning and then she did a 180 and it was almost too much I didn t really feel like she was sincere it felt forced I don t know if that was because she was so different at the beginning of the book or what One cooking lesson and she was all of a sudden a cooker I don t know that part also was very rushed I think it could have played out a little differently without the heartbreak Overall I enjoyed the book, I think I might even check outbooks in this series I loved the narration, only wish the female pov s would have been done in a female narrator but THANK GOD the narrator didn t try and do a female voice Small favors If it s going to be all narrated by a man I liked it exactly like this 3.5 starsI m a little confused by how I feel about this book as I really enjoyed the love story at the heart of it but I just felt the execution wasn t as good as it could have been I m sorry to say.Memphis is a good country boy that is a character you like straight away that seems old before his time After struggling to manage the farm he has inherited after his parents passing away Memphis decides to take in hands on the premise of farm he has inherited after his parents passing away Memphis decides to take in hands on the premise of bed and board in return for working on the farm while hoping to help people out along the way His first two hands have been successful and then he takes in Sadie at the request of her father and Jag who he has doubts about from the offset.Sadie is a really complicated character to get to grips with she has an outer image that spells trouble and after getting herself into trouble with the wrong crowd yet again her father has decided to send her off into the middle of nowhere to learn about herself and think about her actions it would seem Yet Sadie s inner monologues dismiss the entire spoilt rich kid image and you actually feel sorry for her, despite her initial attitude to those around her I really found Sadie finding almost every male she crossed as instantly attractive to the point of wanting to hump them and question her connection to Memphis so annoying that I just rolled my eyes as I felt it did a dis service to the heart of the story and made you doubt any attraction between the two main characters until almost the end of the book.Jag is trouble with a capital T and Memphis knows this from their first meeting but his good nature decides to give Jag a chance Soon it becomes apparent that Jag has intentions to drag Sadie into his troublesome ways and when it all goes wrong he is hell bent on revenge that puts Memphis and Sadie repeatedly in danger However this does eventually seem to be the push they need to recognise their feelings and for Sadie to recognise the mistakes she has made in her past but will they be able to make a future together The issues I had with the book was primarily the country boy language used for Memphis character, I really struggled with reading it and for me it made reading this book hard work and so less enjoyable I also felt a lot of the inner monologues of the characters were long winded and very repetitive with not enough discussion of those concerns between characters And lastly there were too many parts of the story that were just left unvisited or tied off too easily for my liking, mainly all tied around the character Jag who it seems was just placed in the story to cause trouble with no explanation of the consequences that came from the trouble he caused especially Sadie s reactions to them However, I am intrigued by the Epilogue for the next book in the series and look forward to Colby s story This was my first time reading on of Vicki books and I really enjoyed it Let me just say that I absolutely fell in love with Memphis He is such a good guy without a hint of asshole He s romantic, open with his feelings, and smokin hot Whatcould a girl ask for I will definitely be readingfrom this author reader I have come to the point where I basked in the glory of audiobooks They are an experience book lovers should not miss The only downside is I haven t mastered the art of bookmarking quotes and memorable conversations in audiobooks A challenge I am willing to take in my next audiobook session. As I have said, I am not into a lot of cowboy books I have read some and this one is one of its kind Aside from the fact that this came in an audiobook, which enhanced its appeal, the characters and the story is just as endearing The two main characters are from totally different worlds Their worlds collided when Sadie, a city girl who loves to party, was sent by her dad to Memphis ranch as a punishment so she will change her ways Memphis on the other hand is unsure of how this brat will fare with the hard labors of the ranch.Memphis is a true blooded cowboy to the heart He grew up in the ranch which was a product of his Pa s hard work and is now passed on to him The ranch is his life until Sadie came and turned his world upside down If I wanted to meet a real cowboy, I wanted him to be just like Memphis He is a textbook and perfect example of a true blue cowboy.Sadie and Memphis first meeting was not ideal They both turned each other off It was hilarious and cute to hear this two bicker and Sadie surely tested the limits of Memphis patience and gentlemanly manner Sadie was an irritating brat at the beginning but later realized that she had no choice but accept her situation and face it Her transformation was a feast to behold How she changed into someone who can do things on her own, physical labor at that, like milking cows and tending to the horses made her realize that there is a world outside of parties and drunken nights How her relationship with Memphis changed was also very gradual and a delight to the senses She had to understand how important the ranch is to Memphis and learn to see the beauty of the land before her to appreciate all the hard work she contributes to the whole operation. The story isn t just about the transformation of Sadie It s also about how people in the country help each other through bad times This was a sweet read yet thought provoking It makes you understand the hardships and the toils required to keep a ranch It s no easy feat The story has a happy ending and the best thing was how Sadie found her niche She found what she really wanted to do and what she was good at So, her being exiled to the ranch was the best thing that ever happened to her I give this 5 5 pairs cowboy boots This story was very engaging and Memphis just melts my heart to puddles I am actually looking forward to the rest of the books in the series I am curious if I am going to totally fall into this genre or just dip into this sparingly I in the early 1900 s The way the lead character and those around him spoke, as well as the basis of why Sadie was at the ranch was very outdated and quaint But, then I would get to parts with cell phones and wi fi and think nope not a misprint this is really a contemporary novel I must say had it been based in the early 1900 s I would have very little complaints about this book Memphis Johnson is a sweet and sexy rancher who sees the world through rose colored glasses He lost his mom at a young age Luckily he was blessed with a good father to raise him and teach him how to be a good man, but now he s gone as well Memphis has been left with a lot of land to work and few ranch hands In a flash of inspiration Memphis decides to place an ad for a second chance ranch as you will He ll provide food, lodging and a chance for something better in exchange for honest hardwork He gets a couple responses to the ad and gives each one a lot of thought But, when he gets a response back from a rich city guy asking Memphis to take his daughter for a time Memphis is torn It seems the girl has been going a bit wild and the dad wants her away from all of the bad influences that are contributing to her behavior Sadie Tisdale is mad as hell that she s bent sent to this backwoods ranch that has nothing to offer She has no problem taking it out on the sexy cowboy that shows up at the train station to pick her up She knows she is acting like a spoiled brat, but she really doesn t care She cares about little in life, actually In her mind, her dad has always thrown money at her to keep from having to spend time with her, so why should he start acting like he cares now that she is enjoying her life I loved how Memphis responded to Sadie s spoiled brat ways He was almost amused by her tantrums and saw right through her entitled ways right to the person she was trying to hide Memphis was sweet and naive, but a really good strong man It was exactly what Sadie needed Thetime she spent with Memphis and his housekeeper theshe felt that she was becoming the woman she was meant to be There was an element of suspense thrown in and it did keep me wondering for awhile, but it also made me want to shake Sadie for doing the things she was doing You can find this review and others at www.riverinaromantics.com
