read It had an interesting story, larger than life characters and great chapter titles The archaeological dig was interesting and I would have liked to see a littleabout it included in the story, but that wasn t not the focus of the book The great characters and their antics clearly drove the story and that was just fine by me They were all terrific I especially liked the chapters written from Elvis s point of view He s so adorable Channelling the King through a hound dog was very clever The author included many Elvis references so that there was no doubt about it he was the King I also loved Fayrene s numerous malapropisms Classic Many of them were laugh out loud funny, but it took me a second to figure out a few of them I m hoping I haven t made the same mistake myself Ruth Nell, Callie s mother, was also a real hoot The author has included some recipes at the back of the book These include gluten free biscuits, grits, peach cobbler, and two kinds of punch, including Lovie s Prohibition Punch , which was talked about and sampled frequently throughout the book Each recipe is followed by some notes from Elvis I haven t tried any of them, but they look good Highly recommended for cozy mystery lovers This is the first book I ve read of Webb s, but it won t be the last Forinformation about this book or to browse inside, please visit the Kensington Books Series and I have to admit, I didn t enjoy it as much as the others Now basically all of these books contain some kind of annoyance Lovie is obsessed with having sex with her boyfriend, who is truly devoted to her but just thinks there are other things they could do Fayrene and Mama are pretty comical, but about half way through, I wanted to smack them hard And Callie, she is so indecisive between her soon to be ex and her new boyfriend that I have no idea which way she s going to sway. But then there is Elvis Since he is along for the kidnapped ride with Lovie, there are evenchapters told from his point of view which are absolutely precious Elvis is pretty much the main reason I continue with this series and yes, I will be continuing Just because I wantof that lovable pooch However, hopefully the Valentine clan won t be as obnoxious once they are back on their home turf This is a toughie I liked the main characters, the crazy family the dog who thinks he s Elvis reincarnated This was a quick read I expected funny quirky this book delivers It was a little hard for me to get into because a dog who thinks he s Elvis helps tell part of the tale The author gets 5 stars for creativity, character creation for being light hearted amusing but I just really had a hard time getting through this book, getting into the tale admit I rushed through to the end This is a problem, I dunno I wanted to love this book but ended up just being puzzled by why it was so hard to get into follow I ll try another book from this author but the jury s still out Lets start with what I liked about 4 in the Southern Cousins mystery series As always, both Elvis and Fayrene had me in stitches throughout the entire book I love the knight and shinning armor attitude that exist between Jack and Callie Now, the thing I disliked the most was that Callie and Lovie had no interaction with each other The thing that kept me coming back was the loving banter that took place between the 2 of them Lovie s outrageous love for adventure and Callie s straight lace Lets start with what I liked about 4 in the Southern Cousins mystery series As always, both Elvis and Fayrene had me in mesh so well together that because of its non existence in thie story, it just fell flat I will read the next in hopes of returning to what drew me to this series in the first place
